#337 - Eddie McGuire - The Eddie Interview

Eddie McGuire is one of the most influential and recognisable figures in Australian sport and entertainment. He is the former President of the Collingwood Football Club, original host of Channel Nine's The Footy Show and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, former co-host of Triple M's Hot Breakfast and former CEO of the Nine Network.

A broadcaster, journalist, businessman and television personality, Eddie has done just about everything there is to do in Australian media, spending more than three decades at the forefront of sport and entertainment.

This one is special for us and Eddie is about to give you some of his absolute best!

Eddie reminisces about some of the most unforgettable, controversial, funniest and craziest moments of The Footy Show and dives deep into why it was so big. He shares the war with Channel 7 in the mid 90's, why they came out on top and inside some of the big personalities of the show.

Ed reveals the broke and rat-infested state the Collingwood Footy Club was in when he became president on his 34th birthday and why they made the bold leap to move from the spiritual home of Victoria Park to Olympic Park and how they soon became the powerhouse of Australian sport.

We talk about some of the biggest recruits in Eddie's time and the behind-the-scenes signing of Mick Malthouse. Plus, the celebrities (and sponsorship opportunities) Collingwood were able to acquire, inside the partnerships side and the AFL's huge drug issue.

Eddie lifts the lid on why Tim Lane walked out of Channel 9 in 2002, why Plugger threw a crutch at him, the secret nightclub stories he would gain and what a workhorse he is!

And of course you'll hear some classic stories from the big personalities like Sam, Doug, Chief, Crawf and Molly!

This episode has it all and you'll be captivated the whole way through.

Without further ado, here is the legendary, Eddie McGuire!
