Jason Horne-Francis: THAT ice bath, leaving North & finding home

2026-11-01

Pick 1. A trade request after one season. The ice bath story everyone’s heard about. Jason Horne-Francis has been one of the most talked-about young players in the game, but we’ve rarely heard it from him.

Dyl sits down with Port Adelaide’s JHF in Adelaide to go back through all of it: leaving school for a milk factory job at 17, why he’d rather have gone pick 5, the truth about THAT ice bath, why he left North, and choosing Port over the Crows on Dad’s quiet advice. He also opens up about Ken Hinkley’s tough love, his Indigenous heritage, and the phone call to his stepdad Fabian asking to take his last name.

Where can you listen?

Dylan Buckley spent nine seasons and 41 games in the AFL. Enough time to know that life after football was coming, but not nearly enough time to feel ready for it. So he started a podcast.

Dyl sits down with interesting & notable guests - athletes, entrepreneurs, creatives, anyone with a story and gets genuinely curious about their lives. Career highs and lows, mindset, identity, what actually makes people tick.

Dyl's simple rule: 'Be real, be authentic, and ask the questions I wish I knew the answers to.'

You don't need to know the guests before you press play. By the time the episode's done, you'll feel like you've known them for years.
